Wilson Animal Farm

So what do you think of when you hear of a local Animal Farm???
Yeah, I think of goats, chickens, pigs, etc.
So think of our surprise when we get to this place and see how big it really is!!!

Yeah, it did have it's usual farm animals - and the kids got to feed them, but there was so much more in store too.

I had no idea that there were emus with blue eyes. This one kept turning it's head as if it wanted me to take it's picture. They were such a stunning, icy blue that I had to snap a shot.

Did you know that an emu can make an incredibly bass sound???
It sounds as though someone is tooting on a tuba.
I was amazed that such an animal could make such a noise.

Here is the resident leopard. He's black with brownish-orange (only seen in the sunlight) spots.
The workers there say he is really the sweetest thing - almost like a house cat.

Wyatt, Robbie and Shane - taking a look at the pygmy horses. What are they called??? I can't think of their official title, but here's a closeup.

Here is baby bear. He's only 3 weeks old. They had to separate him from his parents because they would eat him if he stayed in captivity with them.

The owner said that for the first bit of Little Bear's life, he took him home at night. The cub would play with the dog, sit in the recliner and watch TV, and then fall asleep. About 11pm he would be moved to a large trash can where he would stay for the night.

The last 3 nights he spent in his cage because he got too clever and could get out of the trash can in the middle of the night.

He was very playful and ready to show off for us. The keeper said that he was starting to get really rough when he plays though. But she did allow Miss Michelle to get up close with the little guy. Of course he wanted to chew on her hands, and he didn't want to let go when she had to pull away.

These 3 play so well together. None of us moms mind when they have playdates because they are all so mild mannered when together.
Personally I think it's Brendan that rubs off on the other 2 because both Dori and I know that things can get hairy with Wyatt and Robbie at times.

Travis decided to go on a little walk with Miss Michelle.

Unfortunately I didn't catch on film when the older boys decided to chase the geese and the geese turned around and started to chase them. Shane just about died of fear! It was pretty funny.

Poor CeCe got in the line of fire of a llama's sneeze/spit. You can see remnants on her face from the nasty experience. The little "bumps" on her face are food from the llama - ewww!
