to the zoo...

A Day at the Zoo!

Clay and Jessica were in town for Clay's spring break. We decided that we'd go to the National Zoo because of the lovely weather we were having. I let Brad and Wyatt play hookie, we packed up the van, geared up for fun and headed out for the day.

We took the metro in to DC, so that was an adventure in itself. All 4 kids did great! By the end of the day we were all tired and happy.

The seals were sunning themselves in the late afternoon sun.

Clay really wanted to see the eagles, and if you look in the center of the photo, you can see one.

Brad and Wyatt really enjoyed the bronze statues. They were placed all over the grounds, so they posed with lots of them.

The hippo was my favorite part of the zoo. This giant was under water most of the time, but would come up for air every 6 minutes or so. I knew they were big animals, but it was really cool to see one in person.

Maddie shows off her own little elephant with the real elephants.

These pictures were taken in the reptile house. Travis and Madison liked looking into the bigger displays where the crocodiles and tortoises were.

(I love this picture of all 4 kids watching the big turtles.)
